Three alphabets will be taught, all suitable for bold words and playful expression by adding colors and varying sizes.
- Uncial has medieval roots in alphabet development, each has a single shape, neither upper nor lower case variations.
- Neuland brings a simple, yet distinctive, contemporary flavor.
- Blackletter/ Gothic can be repetitively simple, or become ornately decorated. Instructor will demonstrate how to draw all the letters in the 3 alphabets, so bring your broad nib fountain pens, or dip pens & inks to practice writing those. Have several messages or quotes to copy in class on your own smooth paper which you can take home to display.
Instructor will explain basic techniques, and provide paper exemplars to guide you. Some metal nib dip pens with sumi ink will be available for you to use during class, along with a selection of decorative materials for your quotes. Open to teens and adults.
